PROCESS WRITING : 1. PLANNING

Basically, there are 5 steps to go through a process in writing.
1.    PLANNING
2.    WRITING A FIRST DRAFT
3.    REVISING AND EDITING
4.    REWRITING
5.    PROOFREADING

Let's say you have decided on writing a story on moral values
about public-spiritedness.

1. PLANNING
In this stage, you need to brainstorm your ideas. Don't worry
about mistakes in language or spelling. Just concentrate on the idea.

You need to write down a brief outline for your story.

early in the morning - drizzling - went out to sell putu mayam
- rain became heavier - seek shelter in hut - wait for rain
to stop - started to daydream - woke up by thunder and
lightning - rain stopped - went out - reached bend - tree
across road - tried to remove tree - failed - on coming bus
- stood in middle - bus stopped - driver and passengers
- grateful - bought putu mayam.

Next, you need to organise the outline into paragraphs
and come up with an outline of the story.
The easiest method is to use the WH-questions.

a. What happen that morning?
- drizzling in the morning
Result : business bleak
Reason : children stay indoors

b. Where did he take shelter?
- drizzling became heavier
Result : seek shelter
Reason : wait for rain to stop – mind began to wander

c. What happen 8 years ago?
- successful businessman but now poor
Result : sells putu mayam
Reason : squandered wealth away

d. How to expend business?
- employ workers
- own children help

e. When did he wake from daydreaming?
- thunder and lightning flashed across sky

f. When rain stop, what did he do? Where did he go?
- pushed bicycle until reach sharp bend
- saw tree across road

g. Why did he try to remove tree?
- public-spiritedness
Reason : dangerous to road users
Result : failed to do so

h. What happen next?
- on-coming bus
- stood in middle of road
Reason : to stop bus
Result : saved driver and passengers

i. What happen in the end?
- driver and passengers grateful
Result : bought all the putu mayam
